Rig re-activation contract awarded to Axess Group
An international drilling company has partnered with Axess Group for integrated inspection and maintenance services on a rig reactivation project. The semi-submersible mobile offshore drilling unit (MODU), which will be reactivated for the offshore drilling project in Malaysia later in 2017, was warm stacked in Namibia since mid-2016.
For a duration of 3 months, the team from Africa will carry out Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections including Advanced Inspection Methods (AIM), Lifting Equipment Certifications (LEC), DROPS survey, rope access, rigging, ex-inspections and scaffolding services on the voyage from Namibia to Malaysia.
Upon reaching Malaysia, Axess’ global footprint in Singapore will continue the project execution while nurturing existing relationship with the client. Maarten Turkstra, Managing Director of Axess Africa, stated: “We value client relations by ensuring that they receive the highest standard solutions as we follow them globally.”
The collaboration with the major offshore drilling company started when Axess Group provided the Total Rig Integrity Management (TRIM) solutions on the client’s semi-submersible rig in Angola whilst on contract. Despite its inactivity in Namibia during the course of 2016, the Group continued to provide basic services to the asset whenever the client required.
