Axess Group enhances local content plan in Africa
As part of our commitment to local content in Africa, we have conducted a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Training and Assessment for ten local technicians in our Accra, Ghana office in 11-14 September 2017.
Selected participants will be part of our Ghana and international inspection teams. This event aims to increase the use of local talents to carry out specialised work scopes and naturally form a part of a long-term sustainable business model.
Our NDT Department Manager from Cape Town, Johan Bloembhof, facilitated the event, which covered theoretical NDT training and practical applications.
Alex Owen, Axess Ghana Country Manager, said: “We plan to increase the skill sets of our local technicians to ensure that they remain up-to-date with the latest technology and service standards in the oil and gas industry. This will be an ongoing process—subsequent internal and external training will be provided to ensure compliance with Axess and Class procedures.”
In the African context, the objective of local content legislation is to allocate knowledge, skills and economical value to the local workforce, in compliance with the law, as well as to allow efficiency when operating businesses locally.
