Axess Group wins major FPSO contract in Ghana

Axess Group won key engineering contract with one of the world’s largest FPSO operators, covering four offshore riser and umbilical installations in Ghana. This FPSO contract is the first major project awarded to the newly established Axess entity in Ghana.

To ensure a turnkey solution for the client, the scope of work consists of riser spool reinstatement, annulus vent tubing, installation of flexible umbilical hoses, termination of electrical umbilical pigtail and other mechanical engineering tasks.

A team of 13 competent engineer and technicians from Norway, South Africa and Ghana, were deployed to carry out the first riser installation of Phase 1 over a period of 35 days. Phase 2 will commence on June 20th, factoring in nine Axess crews for a duration of approximately two months.

Winning this substantial contract would not be possible without the support of Axess Group’s global entities. The Singapore team initiated the communication process with the client during the FPSO’s construction in Asia Pacific. Alpa AS also made a substantial contribution during the quotation process. Another factor was the strategic Risk Based Inspection (RBI) analysis provided by the Group’s Inspection and Integrity Management division.

Axess Group’s CEO, Børge Gjeldvik, said: “This is a milestone for our newly established office in Ghana. We aim to exceed the client’s expectations to potentially secure upcoming in-service inspections and integrity management contract for the next decade. Axess Group will ensure the job execution will be done according to our highest quality standard.”
