The Norwegian Public Roads Administration, Statens Vegvesen, has chosen Axess Group to provide advisory and inspection services for the production and assembly of steel structures for bridges, ferries and other steel structures in Norway. Some of the projects include Ullevaal Crossing footbridge in Oslo and the Tana Bru bridge in Finnmark county.
Awarded in June 2017, the deal has a duration of two years, with options to extend for two periods of one-year each.
The main work scope is advisory and inspection related to quality control systems and periodical inspections of assets, including sample testing of material certificates, procedures, workshop facilities, welding, geometry, surface treatment and final documentation according to Process Code-2 HB R762. Both in-service and new build steel structures of the state road network will be surveyed.
In the recent years, the partnership between Axess Group and Statens Vegvesen on various projects has yielded outstanding results. The teams working on the said projects have a broad background in steel fabrication and the associated follow-up activities.
Statens Vegvesen said: “Axess Group has a comprehensive understanding of the state rules and regulations, as well as system control. They have a large resource base, strong track record in similar projects, and offers the most economical advantage.”
Quality issues with fabrication of steel structures may have a high cost impact on the project capital expenditures. By involving quality services at an early stage, future quality issues will be minimzed significantly.
Håvard Sletvold, Axess Department Manager – QC, said: “We aim to sustain our strong partnership with Statens Vegvesen by providing high quality consulting and inspection services in the most cost-efficient way. Our goal is to increase the value we offer to our clients.”
