DROPS inspection and rectification on a newbuild FPSO

Axess Group has efficiently implemented a baseline Dropped Object Prevention Scheme (DROPS) on an international offshore production company’s newly constructed FPSO, during its voyage from Singapore to West Africa.

Integrated with Lifting Equipment Certification (LEC), our skilled technicians from Singapore initially carried out the DROPS inspection in all areas at height which pose the highest risk for dropped objects to occur. The team worked closely with the client, highlighted non-conforming areas, and subsequently rectified the findings in compliance with industry approved best practices.

Upon reaching Africa, local skilled and competent technicians took over the progressive remedial work scopes; focusing on high-risked items to ensure the hazards of a dropped object are mitigated. The client also requested for support in commissioning activities utilising rope access techniques, where required. This demonstrates the  multi-skilled capabilities found within Axess’ offshore teams.

Dropped objects could potentially cause severe harm to personnel and offshore assets alike. Axess Group’s DROPS program offers a systematic approach to reduce dropped object incidents, provide the most effective risk-reducing measures, and essentially implement a safe working environment for the client.

Axess Group has a proven track record in ensuring our clients’ assets are free from dropped object throughout the oil and gas industry. Axess has carried out such inspection on drilling rigs, FLNGs, FPSOs, floating offshore structures, fixed platforms, offshore construction vessels, as wells as onshore refineries.
